Took my car in for front rotor/brakes repair yesterday. - yarstruuli
Took my car in for front rotor/brakes repair yesterday. Left car and went to work (appreciated the Uber they called for me to go to Trax station). Later got a call from service with estimate on brake job. Fine. Then said based on mileage, car needed transmission and brake fluid flushes, coolant flush and oil change, quoting me the price for each separate service. I hesitated to add more to the job. Service Advisor then said he could offer me a "package deal" for all services for $657. That was substantially less than the amount I was calculating in my head for all this stuff so I jumped at the deal.
I asked my wife to pick up the car at the end of the day as I was working late. Imagine my shock when I got a notice that my credit card had been charged over $1,000!
I called at 5:45 but, after being on hold for 10 minutes, was told no one was available in service department as they had all left for the day. Called again this morning and left detailed message. Advisor called back a few hours later. He claimed that the "package deal" was only for the fluid replacement jobs and did not include the rotors/brakes repair. This was definitely NOT made clear before I agreed to move forward. When the average person hears the term "package deal," he reasonably assumes it includes ALL services discussed, not just some of them.
Advisor said he would have to talk with his manager (who is not working today) next Monday to see what could be done. I await the outcome and will adjust the number of stars in my review accordingly when we conclude this episode next week.
