In March I took my Altima in for the recall on the - Pamwinston1953
In March I took my Altima in for the recall on the lights. They told me they did qualify for replacement, but I had to wait until June for the part. Meanwhile, I could not see to drive after dark. Then, after they were replaced, I was out after dark and still could not see. I called the next morning and they made an appointment to bring my car in. Upon arrival, I was told it may need a $1,200.00 part. (That was before they even looked at it). I explained I was there for the recalled part. They called a few hours later and told me they could find nothing wrong. When I insisted there was something wrong as I was not the only one in the car who said they couldn’t see, they suggested just leaving my lights on the bright beam. I kept insisting that it was either the bulb or they needed adjustment. They never offered to check it again, but said I could put a brighter light bulb in if I wanted, but it would probably cause a short, and they don’t have any brighter bulbs. Needless to say, I left very upset that I would be unable to drive at night without my lights constantly being on bright beams. I then drove to another car repair shop where they diagnosed the problem and had it fixed in 20 minutes. The lights the Nissan dealership put in had not been adjusted. Simple!
Other than recalls, I had not taken my car in to their shop for the past few years because of an earlier experience. I had taken my car in for inspection, and they came to tell me I needed a new battery. I did not replace the battery at that time, They completed the inspection and I left the dealership. While on my way home, the hood flew up in my face almost causing me to wreck as they had not put the hood completely down. The hood flew up so hard that it damaged the panels on both sides of me car. Although they had my car repaired, I was without it for a week. Then I went to buy a battery, and had mine tested, only to be told that my battery was still good. It lasted for at least two more years.
I won’t be using this service department again.
