Not good people ! - Rudolph10601
My husband and I searched online for a motorhome for months. We couldn't afford a new one so we knew we would have to be careful what we bought. After finding a few that we really liked we decide to go with a class C 2006 25 ft. Ivory Safari. We did our research on it as much as possible from searching the internet, including reviews and car fax reports, everything looked great. Even the dealership had good reviews, so we felt comfortable. We live in Tucson Az, and the motorhome was at Dick Gore’s RV World in Florida, so we took a chance on something that we did not see in person. We spoke with Jim Hamlin on the phone about the details of the coach. He assured us there was nothing wrong with it. With under 15,000 miles we were getting a great deal. Engine was strong, no odors, no rust, no leaks ever, everything work great on it, and it had features that you usually only see in class A’s, such as a porcelain toilet, extra high chassis and insulation with a textured ceiling, to top it off, all new tires. There was only one owner, a couple, and they only used it to go to local football games and they kept it in pristine condition. Not only were they going to fill it with a full tank of gas and propane but also full water tanks so we had everything to make it back home. We are not that naive and knew there would be issues that came with a used vehicle, but at the same time trusted someone who knew we would be traveling 1800 miles to pick it up.
Giving them almost a week notice the soonest we could show up was late afternoon on a Friday. They were waiting for us and anxious to end the week. The coach was there waiting for us, first glance it was nice and clean. We were greeted by Brandon who gave us a tour of it. He was great about fixing little things on the spot even the rusted area’s in the compartment and engine were painted back so it looked nice (how nice of them). Once inside, you were hit with a musty smell. Their explanation was it sat and they all become that way if not used. Thinking a good cleaning and fresh desert air would clear that up, I wasn't too upset. That porcelain toilet was not so porcelain, more of a old plastic. And that promise to have a full tank of gas and propane was only half true. We had a full tank of propane but only half a tank of gas. When asked about that, the response was..” well at least you have a full propane tank,” and refused to fill the gas. The holding tank for water was near empt, which we found out during a quick shower half way through our trip. Brandon was very good on showing us how things worked. He said he drove it for 20 miles and found no issues. The whole process of buying the coach was about 45 minutes, like I said, it was Friday late afternoon. Apparently Bill had places to go.
Soon after we pulled out they were locking up the gate for the day. On our way back home first thing we noticed, besides the smell, was the loud squeaking above our heads from the gasket between the cab and overhang, we couldn't hear each other talk (it finally stopped once we got to Texas, guess Brandon missed that). The next thing was the spare tire, there was none, but at least we had all new tires, so we should be good. Half way between San Antonio and El paso we blew the NEW front tire (how weird is that). We had to be tow 100 miles. So we thought we’d make the best of it while waiting for the tow truck, and decided to make dinner in our new motorhome. As the refrigerator opened, a cockroach ran out. We lost our appetite. Once home we started the cleaning process. A week later we are still cleaning the MOLD and musty smell. We are still cleaning cockroaches out.
Like I said, we were not naive about buying a used vehicle, but absolutely blown away and disappointed how we were treated and lied to by the salesmen and financial department from Dick Gore’s RV World. They are truly in every sense of the word, ‘used care sales men!’ Thats not a complement! I understand people want to make money, but the fact they blatantly lied about so much is what sparked me to write this letter. Even if they were just up front with all of this we still might have gone forward with the deal… well..maybe not after the cockroach thing. But hey we got two free ‘Dick Gore’s RV World’ mugs and a old bag of cookies. Yea! All they wanted was to make a deal and didn't care how they did it. Which shows they truly DO NOT care about their customers. We will NEVER not only return to Dick Gore’s RV World, but will never recommend it to anyone. Beware of this company!
