My husband and I bought a Nissan Frontier from Jim Burke Nissan in October 2021. When we purchased, one of the main things we requested was lifetime oil changes. It was included at the time of purchase. We have taken it back a few times for the oil changes and basically none of the experiences were good. On one of the trips, they left the oil plug loose and about half the oil leaked out. My husband had to tighten it up once he saw what was causing it. He called and told them what had happened and basically their response was “oh well, buy some more oil and when you come back in, we will reimburse you for the oil and give you some gas money for having to come back. Of course when he took the truck back they conventionally didn’t remember saying that. Luckily it was on his text messages where they told him they would do that. They still tried to get out of it but finally reluctantly reimbursed him.
Fast forward to today. My husband called yesterday and made an appointment to go in for an oil change. Not one word was said that oil changes which are FREE, we’re now NOT free. When we arrived, we were met by a service employee and he had his trusty little iPad and notebook and proceeded to tell us that “it was required” they do a brake line flush, radiator flush, and something else (at this point we were both furious) which would’ve been over $500 for all of it. If we didn’t agree to those services then our FREE OIL CHANGE would cost $69.95. My husband ask why because we have lifetime oil changes. He said that Nissan had cracked down on them about the cost of oil and they could no longer honor the contract. He made reference to it being stated in our contact that at anytime they have the right to change their mind so to speak and if we didn’t agree to all of those “flushes” (which can be flushed down the toilet) then we wouldn’t get free oil changes any longer.
To say that my husband and I are furious would be an understatement. I don’t know if the service guy was lying or if it’s true but I do know this, we will no longer recommend Nissan to anyone. I will post my complaint anywhere I can because I know that when they sell a car I’m sure they’ve added the cost of oil into the price somehow. Anyway, Nissan has lost a customer and I will be vocally outspoken to anyone thinking of purchasing any Nissan vehicle and definitely NOT recommending Jim Burke PERIOD.
